I think the Earp's defense team intentionally refrained from raising the issue of Ike's sobriety because Ike's actions on the morning of October 26th look far worse if taken by a sober person, rather than those of a drunken, sleep deprived individual. Telling multiple bartenders of his intention to kill certain law officers and then confirming his intention to do so to one of those officers (Ike's statement in Wallace's court), while inexcusable under any circumstance, takes on a far more sinister meaning if the offender is not drunk.
I'm sure Fitch, the Earps and Doc, wherever they may be, are applauding your effort to strengthen their case.
Of course I have never suggested that Ike didn't drink and get drunk on occasion, as did all the cowboys and ranchers I would imagine. I certainly knew a lot of them who put enough away to light the barn... more
