Joyce, you write:"But Coleman described Billy, after two shots were already fired, one being the shot that smashed his right wrist rendering it painfully useless, as attempting to retrieve his gun from his LEFT hip with his LEFT hand, no easy task with his lungs and guts shot out as well."
However, this is what Coleman actually said, according to the hand written transcript of the Coroner's jury report (with original grammar, but with words in bold by me), "...Billy Clanton's had his hand on his pistol which was in the scabbard his RIGHT hand was on his LEFT hip as if in the act of drawing.(Bottom of the page in the link below.)

The description of Billy with his "right hand on his left hip as if in the act of drawing" also appears in the TOMBSTONE DAILY EPITAPH, Oct. 30, 1881.
It also needs to be pointed out that, although I know it was not your intention to mislead (I assume your "LEFT hand" quote is due to faulty memory), your quote above, might tend to make some believe that Coleman's testimony supported the contention that Billy recieved his wrist wound at first fire. Actually, no witness testified to seeing Billy recieve that wound. One prosecution witness testified that at first fire, Billy grabbed his chest, while another testified that he grabbed his belly. Nobody testified that they saw when he recieved his wrist wound, but Coleman's actual testimony that after the first two shots Billy had his right hand on his left hip as if in the act of drawing disputes those witnesses testimony and the idea that Billy's right hand was put out of action at first fire.
