Eddie, Benjamin P. Cheney,jr, a director of Wells Fargo, had that Memorial inscribed on a bronze plaque and placed on Silas St. John’s headstone in 1941. Sadly, several years later the bronze plaque was stolen. When working to replace the bronze plaque, Wells Fargo realized an important fact, Silas St. John never worked for Wells Fargo.
