Karen, I think the photo of Doc you are thinking of is probably the Noah H. Rose attempt to "restore" the photograph that Bat Masterson used in his Human Life article about Holliday. Mr. Rose also aimed his offending pencil at other Old West figures such as Morgan Earp and Billy the Kid. Photos that Rose altered, and other questionable photographs, are covered in an article by Robert McCubbin in the March 2004 issue of True West magazine.
