...as this really becomes a convoluted discussion at times.
I do not see Ike's admission of a conspiracy with Wyatt & Co. over the Benson stage talk. I see Ike relating from his point of view what the conversation consisted of and the wording that he did not agree to anything other than to speak with Wyatt again (about?) but apparently that did not happen.

That is hardly a confession of partnership in a conspiracy. He is only relating what took place and that the discussion was not totally settled. Let's not forget that the FIRST person to approach Ike on the subject was the talkative Doc Holliday and Ike rejected him. This might well have forced Wyatt & Co. to follow through as the Genie was out of the bottle.

        As Paul has indicated, Ike’s problem was subjecting himself to cross examination by the defense and devolving into off-script diatribes.
