Very accurate summary.

The yankee occupation army had a very tight grip on the former confederate states.

Basically it was a martial law environment with southerners being subjected to a military tribunal for any infractions.

This tribunal took precedence over any local civilian court system.

The above is why Doc distanced himself from Georgia. It had little to do with Doc’s early stage Tuberculosis.

In one of Gary Roberts videos, Gary mentioned that although we don’t know exactly what happened with Doc and the gun fire and the negro children at the watering hole, we know something happened.

Whatever happened made Doc decide to leave Georgia.
