Think about it, Peter. Even into the '90s any alleged sighting of the Curly Bill the Cowboy kingpin got lots of press and speculation. This incident got one article, did not identify him as Tombstone's Curly Bill and caused no stir. This Curly Bill may well have been known all over Arizona, but the chances that is Curly Bill the rustler are slim to none. Mainly because that Curly had been deader than a door nail for 2 years.
