Your statement:

Is a bit over the top?

How do you rationalize away a perspective of a PHD History Professor simply because you ether don’t agree or don’t want to agree?

You are saying that said professor’s m.o. has no credibility?

Maybe I am wrong but it seems that your are assigning the same cognitive educational deficit to a university professor as you have also assigned to writer who’s style you have issues with.
