A reprint of a recent article in the Tombstone Prospector in the March 22nd issue of the Arizona Weekly Enterprise states: "The inquests held in Cochise county from the organization of the county to the present time, are being copied by title into a book for that purpose by the District Court Clerk. Some of the inquests held in early days are interesting in the extreme, particularly during the year 1882, when the Earps were on the turf land a killing was chroncled nearly every day. The result of the coroner s inquest upon the body of John Ringo who was found in the Chiricahua mountains is especially interesting. Ringo had made a number of enemies m this camp and was on his way to Galeyville when he was killed. The verdict showed that he was found sitting against a tree with a six shooter in his right hand and a bullet hole in his temple ; one chamber of his pistol was empty. A piece of his scalp had been removed as though with a sharp
knife. The jury was unable to determine whether he had been killed by Indians or had committed suicide. Whoever it was that killed him and propped him up in the position in which he was found, left nothing be hind by which he could be identified. There is more than one man living in Cochise county who knows who did it
but with them the mystery is a secret. – PROSPECTOR”
