Of the board I apparently took on 2005-12-29.
I'm not really sure why I did it. Maybe it was a wget test? I have the thread bodies too but they're not linked. Maybe I should import them into this site just to have them for the heck of it.
Upload the index page as it takes up little space:... more
I imported all those posts that were in the wget dump from December 2005 one by one by hand and then linked the parent ids and thread activity... It was some mind numbing work.
If I come across anymore stuff like this or maybe from archive.org I'm writing a Python script to do it. haha
Well worth the time to import. Haha.
But seriously, I also thought it was interesting when I saw the "Forces" post. What are the chances that the Hobby Lobby post and that one just so happened to be on the random one page snapshot I had buried in a hard drive backup from 16 years ago?
It also ... more
It was the thread that lead me down this whole 'importing' rabbit hole.
Anyway, it's imported now.
Edit: There were actually like 4 other threads I missed the thread body in. They're impor... more
Based on what day it is? The one by me does (or did... It's been a while since I was there).
I was only really worth buying the things that were on sale. It would just stink to drive out there for some cheap cabinet knobs or something just to find out that they're half off tomorrow.
It's thankfully been much less frequent since Covid and the baby though. I don't "hate" the place, there's just nothing really there that actually interests me. I feel like at best I get 25%-40% interested in something I stumble upon at that store.
My wife? 110% on everything in every aisle. We'r... more
Same here... Only about 3 aisles are interesting, the rest are all decorations and stuff women like. I can be in and out in 15 minutes, having seen everything of interest twice.
I try not to take my wife to the hardware store for the same reason... Bored wife = not good.
Yeah I vaguely remember writing that. I did go to hobby lobby. I did buy something and I was waiting in line. There were lots of old people and women and children all around me. Haha this is my memoir thank you for reading.

I read that if you have enough money, you can just buy enough books and get the "NY Times Best Seller" distinction.
Quick Google search says 5k-10k in one week in sales to distinct purchasers. That should be easy enough to bot to fake addresses. :)
Um, 2016 with Inmotion Hosting, but I had someone else before that. Maybe it was the Godaddy reseller account?
I'm pretty sure it was gone when I had real hosting. I'll say it was gone between 2001 and 2005.
Oh and I moved the thread up... We should randomly like once a random number of mon... more
puckdroppersplace.us? I sort of remember there was a lapse or something that happened which caused you to get a different domain name... but maybe I'm thinking of something different than your hosting site changing.
Glad to see the thread activity worked on those old threads. I just set them to t... more
I'd have to pull the whois up to see how long I've had puckdroppersplace.us. I think the guy gave me puckdroppers.us when I couldn't use the puckdroppersplace.tk domain (now dead) to redirect to the webspace he gave me.
When he disappeared, the registration eventually expired, and I had to get m... more

Was the original through someone as UCL? Seems weird that they would just disappear out of the blue like that and leave you hanging.
I guess the guy got some new e-mails or something... or I've also seen 18-year old kids with a good heart and some ideas but life takes them some other way. (He strikes me now as a young kid type.)
The original guys, Peter Holowaty and Stephen Pearce gave up UCL and we rebuilt it. Our mistake w... more
down? It's very quiet there these days but it does seem like the same people still float around. I've seen some of the same user names over at VCFED's forums. It might just be a product of people merging into the larger forum from the smaller ones. Side note, I always found the forum link on UCL to ... more
At least it'd be reliable.
I'd say we lost most the users when UCL closed the first time. Rebuilding, it was never the same again. The only real reason it's hanging around is because the space is already paid for.
I bet the last site update was something like 4 years ago.
updated in like almost 15 years to me. I checked out some of the pages and I remember going through them like 20 years ago when I first got my XT for free (just paid shipping) from the original UCL board. Anyway, you would obviously know much better than me. :)

It's actually hosted off of mf_2's hosting, which I'm not exactly thrilled about. We had to do it that way though as the OSManiac hosting ran in to bandwidth issues especially due to bots on the forums. (I designed a new CAPTCHA page that was intended to be as light on bandwidth as possible. That... more
I don't have a ton of memories being less than 10 but I can think of some from the ages of 5/6 to 10 years old. Anything younger than that just doesn't exist anymore.
It's not like those memories aren't there when you're that age or even when you're a kid still you can remember back. It's like s... more

It would be nice to be able to remember family members that may have passed that you knew when you were young though.
Like, I only have 1 or 2 "flash" memories of my grandmother before she was in the nursing home and still had her memory.
