All original message board features done... I think.

I think I've finally reached the point where I've implemented all user facing message board features and such from the original site. Thankfully the original site is still up with the 1.html Help forum and the one forum that took over so I could still use them for reference.
I wish I still had access to the admin section. I'm curious how far I strayed over these past 3(!) years from the original. I'm thinking it hasn't been much and I tried to fit in my new features so they fit the same style as what was there... but who knows.
Anyway, it's sort of surreal to get to this point. I might actually have to finish a different project!
Oh wait.. I just remembered, I still haven't implemented the Twitter functionality where you can link you message board to a Twitter account and publish every new message as a Tweet or something. I'll have to check my notes on that.
So there's that! (and finally turning BBCode feature on so others can enable it).
It's sort of like the daily subscription email but in real time. Twitter though? I'm honestly not sure how many people actually ever used that feature. It came later in the life span of the service (2009). From searching the Help Forum, I see 2 or 3 people ever asking questions about it. Link to... more
Shawn and Tamara trying to get more people to use their software. We kinda found out how dead things were--the NEMB was in the top 10 active boards--when they shut down. Too bad, these forums are nice, especially since there's no JS running to capture every keystroke and do analytics that screw things... more
