I switched from Debian to Ubuntu for the polish...

even though I sort of liked Debian better way back when. If Ubuntu's polish is fading, perhaps I'll give plain old Debian a try again.

    It's awful when you go from something that was stable and finished to something that's obviously not. You'd think OS-class code would be, you know, good.

        Ubuntu just has never gained traction in my life, I'm not really sure why. I wonder if Raspbian--the Raspberry Pi specific version of Debian--has anything to do with it? FWIW, Raspberry Pi Desktop is pretty good for low spec machines. I have an old HP from the Vista days (a nice box at the time)... more
        • Almost everything these days, if there's a Linux version, it will have a package for Redhat and Ubuntu. Which is nice because building from sources only seems to go two ways: Easy 1-2-3 or a long process of installing dependencies and trying to figure out what broke and where.
